On Tuesday, May 8th 2018, our team organized and participated in a symposium for the Association francophone pour le savoir (ACFAS). This symposium brought together men and women from all domains – academia, government and the private sector – as a means of dialoguing, reflecting and exploring the gender imbalance that remains present in engineering. The symposium consisted of both individual presentations as well as a round table discussion. Presenters discussed a wide range of topics from teaching STEM through a technological approach favouring creativity and empathy; recruiting, retaining and celebrating women from all scientific domains to KVibe: A smart innovation against incontinence in women. While there remains much work to do in order to achieve gender balance, we are confident that we are on the right path! Below are some pictures from the symposium as well as news articles featuring co-researchers Donatille Mujawamariya and Catherine Mavriplis, as well as students, Natacha Louis and Jennifer Vo. Congratulations to all on a very successful symposium!
